Only Up From Here

I got my abnormal psych test back the other day. Didn't do as well as I would have liked. I received a 79%, but I know for a fact that I did better than a lot of others. I saw one other student's test, on accident, and all I can say is yikes. I feel bad for her in my own silent way, as she doesn't know I saw her grade. I know what it's like to totally bomb tests, as I usually have horrendous test anxiety.

I feel confident in the next unit we are studying. It is material and situations I see and work with on a daily basis. The first unit covered the assessment and testing for various mental disorders. That is the doctors part so all of that was new to me. The next unit covers signs and symptoms of the diseases and how to help them. This is where I step in.

Other classes are going great as well. I have a part in the Shakespeare play "A Midsummers Night Dream." Any one familiar with the play, I am playing Puck. We are only performing the play within the play. The mechanicals parts. We are modernizing it, were all of the charactors are psychiatric patients. It will be great. I love how I can pull all of my classes together the semister. Any suggestions as to where I might find an old straight jacket, restraints, or other various items one thinks of when thinking of a psych ward, would be welcomed.

No Time Like The Present

It has been a long time passing since my last blog. A conversation with a friend the other day pointed this fact out, so this ones for Kristy. I hope people look here, at least from time to time.

today is a very special day for Raven and myself; it is our 2nd wedding anniversary. Its hard to believe sometimes on how time passes. It seems in some ways that we had just met, but still in others its as if we have known each other for years. Here is to two wonderful years and many many more.

I also took my first abnormal psych test to today. The multiple guess questions were fairly simple I think I did well on those. The short essay questions I got all sorts of confused on. Not confused as to what they were talking about just needed to clear my mind and see what they were asking. I get horrible test anxiety. I was the last student left when I told my instructor I was all most finished, she simply replied to take my time that the last ones done usually do the best. Hopefully she will consider that when she is grading my essay questions.

I have found the joys and pleasures of having credit this weekend. Not that I have had bad credit I had no credit. My husband and I have been looking for living room furniture and we found a set that we both liked, fit our room idea, and was priced right. After much debate, I filled out the paper work for in store financing. If not aproved that can hurt our credit. We were aproved!! YEY So we bought a complete set plus a chair for my sister-in-law equaling just shy 2 grand. We then that same day payed off the truck. It was an expenssive afternoon. But very enjoyable.

Hi, my name is Berta, I am not an alcoholic, but I am looking for a career change. This is my first post and don't have much to talk about. Just needing someplace to vent from time to time and stay connected with others.
It is good to have days off. I came to this realization as today is the first day I have had completely off in a long time. I worked 44 hours in only 4 days. I knew that only averages 11 hours a day, but when you work in locked psych ward, those are long days. 3 of the days were 12 hour shifts the fourth one was only 8 hours. Last weekend was spent with family and prepairing for a party one day, and the next was a parade we were in and more family. The whole week before that my brother was in town from Colorado Springs. So agian with the family get togethers and the running here or there.
I have the next three days off though so hopfully we, my husband and I, can take it easy.
